Hercules mayor to meet with Governor Jerry Brown about Highway 4 cameras

HERCULES — The mayor of Hercules stated he, along with the mayor El Cerrito, are going to meet with the governor next Mon to discuss cameras on Hwy 4.

This is seen as a large development in the push to get surveillance cameras along East Bay freeways in hopes of stopping the recent rash of shootings.

The mayor is leading the push to get cameras installed along the Hwy four corridor.

He has sent a letter asking the state for immediate help.

The mayor adds he has mayors from 3 other cities who are thinking about signing the letter as well.

There have been at least 28 shootings on Hwy four and Interstate eighty since last year.
